She sets out to fold a thousand origami cranes in an effort to save her own life. After her death, her friends complete the task that Sadako was unable to finish. TIS Launches Thinking Green Project

A signing ceremony was held recently to recognize the school's partnership with Honeywell, the Clinton Climate Initiative and CEM in the implementation of a "Thinking Green Classroom" at TIS.
The interactive, educational program will use alternative energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines to provide a hands-on demonstration of how renewable energy works. In addition, a roof top garden will reduce heat absorption by the school during hot weather conditions, decreasing the need for air conditioning. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by August 2009. The series of energy conservation measures to be implemented at TIS will reduce energy costs by 25 percent and save an equivalent of 180 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

TIS Recognizes First Graduates

The International School of Macao marked a milestone on Friday, May 29, as the first grade 12 students to graduate from the school walked across the stage at MUST Auditorium to receive their honourary graduation certificates. The twenty-seven students, many of whom were among the first grade 6 students in the school's start-up year in 2002, donned caps and gowns for the special ceremony attended by friends, family and invited guests and dignitaries. The ceremony was followed by a graduation banquet at Macau Tower.
