TIS Hosts Books Alive Tour
The Books Alive tour visited TIS on June 11 to perform the play A Thousand Cranes for students in Grades 3-6. A Thousand Cranes tells the story of Sadako Sasaki, a Japanese schoolgirl who is diagnosed with leukemia due to radiation exposure from the atomic bomb. She sets out to fold a thousand origami cranes in an effort to save her own life. After her death, her friends complete the task that Sadako was unable to finish. The actors put on a memorable performance and also engaged students in an interactive session after the play. The Books Alive tour is presented by the Center for Arts, Technology and Education in Macau.
