Secondary Sports Day

Aug 31, 2007

Students learning to work together so that later they can work together to learn. TIS held it's secondary Sports Day on Friday, Aug 31. Students participated in homeroom teams in events such as Basketball, Soccer, Dizzy Bat Race, Ping Pong Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and the ever popular Tug of War. Despite the hot weather students worked hard at each event and had the opportunity to meet their classmates and new teachers. Not only is physical activity one of the goals of the Sports Day but students also learn how to work together as a team in order to be successful.
Highlights included the high school girls beating the boys in the Tug of War. Not to be unchallenged, the staff took on the students. Despite the staff winning one round, the students emerged victorious overall by dragging the staff along the grass. The principal, Mr. Hryhirchuk, has vowed, "I'll be back."
Thank you to all of the secondary staff who helped make the event a success and a special thank you goes out to the secondary PE teachers, Ms. Heschuk and Mr. Varga, for organizing the day.
